BVL Volunteer Extraordinaire

Gert FinkeDedication. Tenacity. Perseverance. Some would think that taking on a volunteer responsibility for five years takes all of these. Staying involved the same volunteer job for 10 years is truly remarkable. Doing the same job for 15 years is unheard of. Still sticking with it for 20 years falls into the Ripley’s ‘Believe it or Not’ category. Twenty five years? That must be in the Guinness World Book of Records.

Now, do you really want to stretch your mind? How about volunteering in the same position for double that Guinness record? How about volunteering for the same organization for a half a century?

Meet Gert Finke. BVL Chair in Minneapolis for 50 years.

For 50 years, Gert has organized, coordinated and delivered the BVL fund-raising program in Minneapolis. She’s seen and done it all. This year, the group raised almost $9,000 for BVL. So she not only does it, she does it well. In addition to her fund-raising time, she was instrumental in getting four bowling lanes installed at the St. Cloud VA Hospital.

With Gert at the helm in Minneapolis, the lives of so many veterans have been made brighter.

Thank you, Gert, for all you have done for BVL and the veterans we serve.
